The Iceman Cometh
Chuck Liddell made an appearance at Max Muscle this evening. We got there at 3 and stood in line for about 45 minutes to an hour before we got to meet him. The line continued to be long even after we left, which just goes to show that MMA is definitely a hugh sport right now. Chuck is a superstar in his own right. Former UFC light-heavyweight Champ, he stood almost as tall as me and was as broad as me. But, obviously he was cut (in great shape). A real class act, he signed the DVD and T-shirt we laid down in front of him. We got pictures with him and he looked like he was enjoying himself. Here is a little bit of info for you- Chuck had his toenails painted blue, black, and white. Iceman colors, pretty awesome for a tough guy to do. I am always so excited to meet these guys, so far I have gotten to meet Chuck, Randy Couture, Tim Silvia, Jens Pulver, Houston Alexander, and Ken Shamrock. All but Shamrock were cool, Shamrock was just there for the money. He was a jerk and his wife, well I won't use a negative word because I have more respect than that, but lets just say, a bad manager! Anyway, good stuff, that Chuck!

You should come train with us!
MMA has become a very popular sport around the country and around the world. The UFC pulls in the third most views for all sporting events behind Football and Nascar. If you are familiar or even if you are not, MMA has basically four basic disciplines. Wrestling, Boxing/Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Jiu-Jitsu.
Jiu-Jitsu is a form of submission fighting and the one discipline that I find utterly fascinating! I have grown so fascinated that I have joined the ragtag group of practitioners at Sho-Rei-Shobu-Kan in downtown Lincoln, NE. I have been training there for about a month and have nothing but great training. Aside from the bumps and bruises, the black eyes, and the stressed muscles, it would be the perfect workout for any age...okay maybe not for a 100 year old, but if you are 12 to 62 I think you could hang. If you are reading this and live in the Lincoln area come down and talk to Shihan, John Roseberry, owner of the Dojo. He will give you a free lesson to try it out and see what you think. That is what I did, if you want to be challenged and see your full potential this is the place to be! Practices are Tuesday and Thursday, 4-5:30pm and other days as well, but these are the best days to come, small classes, intimate setting, multiple reps. You should train with us!

Taproot Releases New Album

Taproot's newest installment into their voyage to concur the hard rock music- Our Long Road Home- released September 16. I am a huge Taproot fan, and I must tell you that this album is a solid rock album. I feel it still falls short of Gift, their first major label release. Then again I still feel that album is still their best. They are a smart band like Linkin Park and others that saw the light of the Rap/Rock-"New Metal" genre dying and decided to go a new direction. This album is an eclectic mix of soft melodies and Brutish metal. The album boasts 12 songs, my favorite "Path Less Taken" which is the first track. It is a good track to set the mood for the rest of the album. If you are fortunate enough to catch them live across the U.S. with Sevendust, let me know how they are this time around. If you are like me and have to wait and see if they will come your way, bide your time by getting the new album- Our Long Road Home!

Why is technology so stupid
You know, for all the advances in technology there are still problems. Take for instance these damned webcams. I just bought one and it says it is ready to go for conversing over the net. I set it up and get online with my sister only to have her not be able to hear me, even though a mic is on the camera. Then I reinstall the camera and it totally fails. I get so sick and tired of technology being so stupid. It is more headache then needed, or am I just too quick to give up on the technology?

UFC Hits Omaha
The wife and I took a trip up to Omaha yesterday to catch the UFC Ultimate Fight Night, and boy I have to tell you it was good. Solid action by some veteran and up-and-comers. The UFC decided on having it at the Civic, which was somewhat strange I thought at first, since the Qwest is just down the road. I think they did this to test the demographic, see if the midwest was willing to sell out a moderately sized venue. I believe this did happen last night and hope that Dana White is wise to the fact that we have some great fans in this area who are hungry for sports action.
